“Please find attached my Failed Cover Letters for your perusal.”, or Failed Cover Letters for short, is a zine of 48 cover letters of mine that didn’t get the job. It is a personal project self-published under PULSE/PULSE Press.
Concept
It’s been something I’ve wanted to do for a while, to have a laugh at myself, embrace the cringe, recognise the earnestness in the attempt. In the process I’ve relearnt things about myself, and although it feels intimate to share these, my hope is that it will feel relatable in the ways we try to communicate about who we are, hoping to be seen.
This zine format mimics how official documents like cover letters tend to be presented... Printed with black ink on A4, words in Times New Roman 12pt, kept in a binder pocket for irony.
